Review of That Awkward Moment (2014) by Todd P — 23 Apr 2014
I really enjoyed That Awkward Moment. Films like this live or die on the chemistry of their cast, and the trio of Zac Effron, Miles Teller and Michael B. Jordan really works well. All of the best scenes feature the three of them just hanging out together (although as a man in my early twenties, I can't remember ever going to a cafe for breakfast with two friends).
The relationship between the three of them is for the most part realistic, and it's obvious that they had a good time improvising some of the jokes. On the down side, this film is very predictable.
It relies solely on being a rom-com from the male point of view to bring any originality, and the story goes through every familiar plot point that you would expect. While That Awkward Moment is by no means perfect, it has a lot of laughs, and is a an enjoyable 90 minutes.
