Review of Thank You (2011) by David C — 11 Apr 2011
This was the first Bollywood film I've seen in the cinema (seen "Disco Dancer" and "Laggan" on DVD in the past).
I've found mixed reviews of this, many claiming its a rehash of a plot from past Bollywood films - still I found it pretty funny throughout, length was good, though we are never told why its set in Canada.
Indeed alot of the girls the men cheat on their wives with are young (barely 18 perhaps?), white and dress pretty slutty.. they are either on as eye candy or extras for the musical numbers.
Irrfan Khan is great playing the dry, bully of a husband who gets his just deserts - also Akshay Kumar as the private detective is too.
Overall the cast were really good and while the mob connection is a bit far-fetched, you gotta remember its a Bollywood film.
Considering the subject matter, eye candy and near constant infidelity in the first half of the film there are no innuendos. The reason its a 12A according to the BBFC, is for the strong violence at times with a brief look at blood during a few action scenes (a lady does get slapped during a musical number, though she slaps the guy back too).
