Review of Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022) by Tvjerry — 20 Feb 2022
The original 1974 version of this film is still one of my faves. This new version is the 9th incarnation. It takes place 50 years later, when a group of twenty-somethings visit the hometown of the legend.
The plot follows the usual line: a few minutes of creepy scenarios to set expectations, then an all-out gore fest. Since the outcome is obvious, it's about what new, vicious ways the killings go down.
Unlike the original (the details of the vicious attacks were implied), this new one revels in bloody brutality. Those who enjoy seeing people viciously murdered will discover some new angles, but there's little tension or originality to make the carnage distinctive.
