Anyone ineterested in screwed up families with dirty secrets, brooding handsome central characters and delicious filmaking will enjoy Coppola's, Tetro. Copoloa produced and directed this tale of a family reunited in Buenos Aires. Bennie played by nubie Alden Erenreich, and his brother(?), Tetro, played by Vincent Gallo are reunited in Buenos Aires after Bennie's cruise ship makes an unexpected stop.

The family's history unfolds as Bennie digs through Tetro's belongings with the help of his "sister in-law", magically portrayed by Maribel Verdu. We soon find the root of Tetro's tortured spirit.

I saw the film in a theater with water damage, old seats and several hardcore movie weirdos late on Sunday night. The setting was perefct and accented the texture Coppola provided filming the present in black and white and the past in color. The beauty and simplicity of Buenos Aires is palpable.

Thank you Tetro for waking me from my January theater doldrums.....

"Tetro shows why film is the highest art form"- Erik Shlapack.
