Review of Tetro (2009) by Ian G — 23 Jan 2011
Another entry from the figurehead of the Coppola clan in tune with his reemergence for personal and scaled down filmmaking as opposed to his grand visions of the 70's and early 90s (Godfather saga, Apocalypse Now).
His flare for harnessing solid performances from his cast, interesting writting, and a great eye for visuals are all present, although in terms of cinematography had it not been shot in black and white would have been slightly less engaging.
Good to see Gallo in a somewhat normal performance for him as a starving artist and battling brother over his family legacy with his younger brother. Good for what it is and great to see Coppola being productive on his own work again, although I miss the younger version which his grand visions.
