Review of Tess (1979) by Clayton D — 11 Nov 2007
What Polanski understands so well is that a literary adaptation needs a point of view in order to stand on its own. Polanski not only has a point of view, but lets his camera show instead of tell. A visual tour-de-force, supplemented by electric performances, most notably the brilliant Nastassja Kinski.
