Review of Tess (1979) by Jinfang N — 07 Mar 2008
This is such a good movie! Even though I don't like the sad plot, I hate Tess and the man she loves. Where did the director find those two leading performers? They are so good! I wanted to slap Tess.
She is such a stubborn, stupid, foolish, ungrateful, childish, wretched witch. She is like a sad ghost, whoever touches her will have bad luck. Alexander love her and treat her and her family so well.
He is also a good guy. the other guy is sad, may have some psychological problem, abandoned her and left her in homeless and desperate, yet she chooses that man who bring her misery, even killed the man who brings her proper life.
Every choice she made was to make her even more miserable. My hate toward her was beyond words. You see, the D'Urberville family was cursed, they fall from high above, to poor and wretched. Tess's father is ok, even though he is alcoholic and don't work.
he still knows what is good for him. Tess is so pathetic that she chooses everything that is bad for her and fight agaist eveything that is good for her. pathetic! pathetic!
