Review of Terri (2011) by Anarae Precious F — 23 Nov 2011
I expected more from John C. Reilly's character, both in terms of acting and writing. He was absent in the climax and in many critical scenes, dimishing his character to a less supportive role. Terri himself was good, not great, but good.
Probably the best performance of the film. It's a typical indie dramedy with all the necessary aspects, but it goes were a few other indies have gone: it hurls itself into R-rated territory seemingly unnecissarily.
There's many parts where it turns adult but it's not quite the type of movie that does smoothly. That may be intentional to reflect the awkwardity of the characters (they're all misfits). But still, it doesn't fit in with the style of the film.
B-.
