Review of Terri (2011) by Martin S — 20 Dec 2011
An unassuming subtle, pensive character study that morphs into this really honest and accurate depiction of teenagerhood. There's a particularly excellent scene involving three characters, a shed, a bottle of whisky, and pills and a whole lot of insecurities and truths being laid out that just kind of made me go "Holy shit this is really excellent filmmaking.
" I didn't expect it, and it was quite welcome. And John C Reilly is great at everything he does. It's just a fact. And the kid that plays Terri is playing Troy in the adaptation of "Fat Kid Rules the World" which is perfect because I kept thinking he'd make a great Troy while I was watching this.
