This film examines the delicate and difficult relationship between a mother and daughter, who both struggle to remain true to the men they love, even though the guys are unable to return their affection.
This film's greatest legacy, however, is the performance of Debra Winger, who gives an extremely moving performance. Jeff Daniels is also spot on as the inept, unfaithful husband.
