Review of Terms of Endearment (1983) by Thomas P — 27 Aug 2008
By no means a perfect film, and its cliched to say the least. But somehow this film sets itself apart from most melodramas. The characters are all somewhat unsympathetic which is unusual for this type of movie, which usually begs for us to fall in love with its protagonists.
The dialogue is always just left of center and motivations questionable. Its quite offbeat and madcap in this sense which I think is welcome and refreshing. Excellent performances from MaClaine and Winger really breath life into this one.
