Review of Terminator Salvation (2009) by Paul R — 01 Apr 2013
I had been waiting for this film for ages! Media hype had reached boiling point. This usually is a recipe for massive disappointment. BUT it was a good reboot - you all know the story so they didn't really need to explore it.
... it's simply a super cheesy, super action, super effects monster. I did like the story following Sam Worthington's character which was a pleasant surprise as I expected a complete John Connor saturated flop.
Mixed emotions about the acting. Bryce Dallas Howard just did NOTHING and just didn't sit right for me. Sam Worthington redeemed Christian Bales "Angry Batman with a gun" and Anton Yelchin's Kyle Reese was a pleasure to watch.
It's full of little reminders of the good Terminator films and makes you smile and nod your head in parts. After the abomination that was Terminator 3 - This certainly redeems the Terminator franchise.
