Review of Terminator Salvation (2009) by David R — 13 Apr 2013
Good ideas that are horribly executed through trite dialogue and emotionless character motivation. It's a visually-superficial masturbatory aid with an un-engaging story and rocky set-piece action.
It's just not entertaining, not because of the science fiction aspect, but because the below-the-surface themes are fake and unfounded. Character interaction is just lame and unwarranted. The seriousness comes off as overly cheesy and the pacing is uneven.
Bad editing during downtime and conversational scenes screws with narrative flow. The homages are nice, but nothing more than that. There's barely any redeeming factors other than the fact it has the Terminator franchise slapped on.
I respect they tried to do something different with the series, but it's lost it's heart and soul in translation.
