Review of Terminator Salvation (2009) by Barrie Q — 21 Apr 2013
Having seen all four movies in the franchise, this is an improvement on Terminator3, but the highpoint remains T2:Judgement Day. My main concern is the casting of John Connor, the leader of the resistance. Christian Bale's style of acting annoys me and I didn't care about his character. It almost leads you to root for the machines.
The plot twists are unbelievable also, and very contrived. I heard a collective groan at the plot advancement near to the end, the audience having had enough.
The technical aspects are there to enjoy, good CGI assisted set-pieces and the sound track was particularly good. There are a few references to past films in the franchise. Moon Bloodgood was good, as was Anton Yelchin as Connor's father Kyle Reece. Overall, not a great film, but it will take tons of money.
