Review of Terminator Salvation (2009) by Travis Movieking W — 29 Jun 2015
Oh boy here it is everyone, the "TRUE" sequel that nearly killed the Terminator franchise for good. Now i've heard a lot about this film (from it's bizarre change of tone to Bale's meltdown on set), and even how audiences found themselves liking this movie more than T3.
And all I can say is: "Good for you". Me however, this wasn't even CLOSE to enjoyable considering this was the film that made me look forward to where it all started and was builded up: Judgement Day.
Bland characters (Specifically Christian Bale and Sam Worthington), uninteresting storytelling about JUDGEMENT DAY (yeah, cause 3 films quite wasn't enough build up), a H.R Giger tone that loses the whole point of the battles and Terminators that took place, the lacking substance and heart of the original two films, and overblown action are the many reasons that I hated it, and needed Cameron back into the T franchise for this to work.
Though the action can be SURPRISINGLY good at times and also some ideas are worth noticing for, Salvation had no salvation worth saving for me to like it AT ALL.
