Review of Terminator Genisys (2015) by Evan M — 17 Nov 2015

Now, here's an action movie that doesn't fuck around. It doesn't waste anytime and it doesn't take itself too seriously. I can't believe some of these reviews I've been reading on here.

Some people are analyzing the plot of this flick to Sheldon Cooper like proportions. Yes, it's contrived as hell but it's a time travel movie, they all are! The fun of it is trying to figure out the time-line contingencies with ur friends like the nerds on The Big Bang Theory.

This is simply a fun, summertime popcorn film that only expands on a story we already know and love. It's a clever blend of a prequel, a sequel, and a remake. It's annoyingly repetitive at times and the story is so convoluted that it's confusing, but it has a self-awareness that gives it a slight camp value.

Young Sarah Conner knowing her whole future and Awnold asking her constantly if she and Reese have "mated" yet, is hilarious. Not to mention the convenient explanation as to why Schwarzenegger looks so fuckin old in this compared to the other movies.

When I saw the trailer, I laughed my ass off thinking there's no way I was gonna get past it watching this thing. At least it's acknowledged in the script though, not every movie does that. Its like Arnold said, "I'll be back.

..with a hip replacement, but still..." That's the perfect metaphor for this movie I think.
