Review of Terminator Genisys (2015) by Spencer K — 07 Mar 2016
I think it's safe to say the Terminator franchise is dead now. I went in not expecting too much because of the failure that was Salvation and T3 and came out feeling annoyed. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Emilia Clarke give fine performances and it was nice to see Arnold back in this role again.
Jai Courtney was just not good at all. he brought was he had and I guess what he had isn't all that great. JK Simmons seemed so out of place in this movie. he would show up at the most random times just blabbing about some random shit.
he gave a fine performance but I feel like anybody could have played the character and it would be no different. the visuals were great, the directing was okay, but the script was so corny and dumb though and the dialogue is not good at all.
some of the lines I was rolling my eyes because of how stupid some of them were. the action is pretty cool and big and explosive. sometimes it was a bit nauseating, but for the most part it was cool. Terminator Genisys is a decent film, with decent acting, a lame script, cool action and decent direction.
it completely ignores the mythos set up in past Terminator films and never once lives up to this once great sci-fi franchise. it falls short of expectations and feels like a watered down Summer blockbuster.
