Review of Terminator Genisys (2015) by David B — 13 Jun 2016
Awful and pointless film. I'm not really sure where hollywood were going with this but whatever it was, it failed and badly. How can a Terminater film be so bad? Well, all you need to do is watch this.
..or just watch the trailer, which practically spoils everything. I thought the idea of the Terminator growing old was a nifty idea...an idea I'm sure was because of Schwarzenegger age himself and the effects on him were good but the plotting was slow and boring and nothing engaging.
It's as if it has gone back in time to murder our memories of the ancestral first film and crush the series' reputation. You can't really blame Schwarzenegger if I'm fair, he does the role well, though at times it didn't really feel he was there.
..and the other performances were absolutely awful and had no soul or heart like the first two. Terminator Salvation was slightly better than this...but to be honest, they should just leave this franchise alone.
A weak entry that shouldn't have been made. It's worth having a look for the references and slight in-jokes but that is all. This dreadful sequel has an ambitious premise but tries so hard to be intricate and surprising that it only grows more and more stupid amongst a laughable plot.
It really is time for the franchise to be terminated. Stick with the first two and ONLY the first two.
