Review of Terminator Genisys (2015) by Kevin R — 28 Nov 2015
Terrible movie. Terminator: Genisys is a franchise-killing disaster. This movie should at least have a 26% RT audience score. This film is a heavy metal mess. This is the absolute worst film in the Terminator franchise. They go back in time to the 1980s where the original Terminator was on an assassination mission to terminate Sarah Connor and erase the events of T1, T2, T3, and T4. It rewrites the timeline! The casting is god-awful. Emilia Clarke sucks as Sarah Connor. She does not fit the role. She is so miscast as Sarah Connor. Her acting was bad in this movie. Jai Courtney is severely miscast as Kyle Reese. He is a terrible Kyle Reese. He is easily the worst actor in this movie. His acting is so awful in this movie. His acting is even worse than Emilia Clarke's acting. John Connor once again gets recast! Now Jason Clarke is John Connor, but he is badly cast. Arnold Schwarzenegger is a T-800 again, which is actually one of the few good things about this terrible film. The Terminators in this movie are easily destroyed which is stupid because in the previous Terminator films it usually took an entire movie to kill one of them. The action is lackluster. The CGI is bad and used too much. The plot is overly convoluted and confusing. The movie is filled with so many big plot holes. The movie is overstuffed with too many villains. There are 3 villains in this movie (Young T-800, T-1000, and T-3000) This movie completely butchered the character of John Connor who is supposed to be the hero of this film series. John Connor is a villain in this movie! He is a Terminator known as the T-3000 who is supposedly more powerful than the T-1000 from T2, but in the third act he gets killed a bit too easily. T-1000 from T2 is supposedly a weaker Terminator than him but he's so much better and so much more menacing and much more intimidating than T-3000. There are 3 villainous Terminators in this movie, but none of them really pose a major threat against Sarah and Kyle. In the old Terminator films, the Terminators were scary, menacing, intimidating, and extremely hard to kill and took almost the entire runtime for them to be killed. Terminator: Genisys feels like one of those shitty Michael Bay Transformers sequels.
Rating: 2.3/10.
