Review of Terminator Genisys (2015) by Axet — 06 Jul 2015
Technically well made, big action and spectacle as expected, and Arnold in a welcome return is just fine. The problem is the movie is so confounded with time travel in a story that is mainly retread disguised as reboot sequel that it doesn't make much sense.
There are plot holes and flaws. One small one in particular I wondered about is with the filmmakers going through all the trouble of recreating 1984 Los Angeles, with beautifully shot/VFX of the downtown skyline of that era for example, then go and blow a simple detail like LAPD using a collar radio instead of a walkie talkie in that year.
A very small flaw yes, but it amounts to sloppy direction. And that amounts to a befuddling story with too much action and not enough well thought out plot in a movie that drags despite the strong franchise base and fun that it has with it.
