Review of Terminator Genisys (2015) by Ken S — 24 Nov 2015
"Terminator Genisys" brings back Arnold Schwarzenegger to the series that made him star after his stint as Governor of California. The series just doesn't have enough story to warrant all these sequels.
Only the first sequel, "Terminator 2: Judgement Day" was any good, and even it was a semi-remake of the original. The third one was a rehash of the first two movies with only a few twists (with only it's ending being worthwhile), and while Salvation wasn't a great movie, at least it tried something different with the series.
This is a rehash of the old form, and features such a convoluted and complex time travel nonsense of a plot...it actually becomes a headache to follow what is going on. Jai Courntey is a bad choice for Kyle Reese.
..he is too bulky and stiff. He would actually be a decent Terminator. Reese should be a little more average and likable...this guy has no charisma (something he proved in the 5th Die Hard as well). Arnie does what Arnie does, and he is fine here.
..but too old, even if they worked that in okay. I just didn't get invested in the movie. And trying to keep track of all the various timelines in this series has just become exhausting and not really worth sorting out.
