Review of Terminator Genisys (2015) by Ben T — 28 Dec 2015

When it comes to the Terminator franchise I'm a massive fan, the first terminator is a fantastic low budget movie that still holds up very well, terminator 2 is a fantastic sequel that improves on nearly everything in the first movie, terminator 3 is a dissapointing sequel that had great, dumb action sequences and a fantastic ending and while terminator salvation is overly serious and forgettable still has a lot of fun action.

However Terminator Genisys is one of the most boring and terrible movies of the year. This film was just so bad I'm shocked how awful it is. The cast is a mixed bag, Arnold Schwarzenegger is great, he's still got it and he's the best part of the film.

Emilia Clarke is a very good actress but here she's very mediocre and is just nothing on Linda Hamilton. Jai Courtney is just a worse Sam Worthington, he's boring, bland and is just not Kyle Reese.

Seriously Kyle Reese is supposed to be this skinny, vulnerable and likeable character. However here he's some huge beefed up guy with little personality. Jason Clarke is really good but his character isn't handled that well.

I was really excited to see Matt Smith in this movie but he's in it for about a minute if even that. Vying-Hun Lee is a pretty good actor and is great in action sequences however he's absolutely wasted here.

J.K. Simmons is also wasted which is a shame as he's such a good actor. The action here is a low point for the franchise, the chase scene on the Golden Gate Bridge is good with a great bus stunt but that's it.

I was so excited for the Arnold vs Arnold fight but it's so short and so underwhelming, the end action scene is also very underwhelming. This film has a lot of humour added in and not a lot of it hits.

Some of the jokes with Arnold were good but the rest of the jokes aren't very funny. The cgi is hit and miss, the young Arnold looks very good but the T-1000 looks. no where near as good as the one in Terminator 2.

This film is also just so boring, I nearly fell asleep it was so boring, action films shouldn't be boring but this one is. This film also has a lot of unanswered questions, the most annoying is who sent back the Arnold Schwarzenegger that defended young Sarah Connor.

This film also messes around with the Terminator continuity and wipes out a load of great moments. This film is probably the worst movie of the year , it's so bad and I hated watching it. D-.
