Review of Terminator Genisys (2015) by Frederic C. B — 26 Apr 2016
The Good:
Lots of action that looks cool and straightout entertaining. Arnold Schwarzenegger steals the scene with his stoic performances. Amazing visual and make up effects to show the Terminator in various timelines. Making John Connor as the prime antagonist is a nice decision, because he becomes a worthy and unbeatable enemy unlike those from the previous Terminator movies. Making the Terminator as a father figure for Sarah Connor is also a wise and praiseworthy decision, because it brings a wonderful dynamic as soon as Kyle Reese comes into the fray.
The Not-so-Good:
Confusing time travel paradoxes that doesn't quite make sense, especially if the plot is dissected bits by bits. The romance between Kyle Reese and Sarah Connor doesn't feel real, perhaps because of the lack of chemistry between Jai Courtney and Emilia Clarke.
