Review of Terminator Genisys (2015) by Axl L — 21 Jan 2016
Looking back, this thing was doomed. What we were promised was a new dawn for the Terminator franchise, but even from the time the marketing materials were released, the game was up - they gave *every single twist* away in the trailers and posters.
All of it. What we wind up having to sit through is a ponderous slideshow recreating all the cool parts from Terminators 1 and 2 in increasingly meaningless ways. It was very possibly written by a ten-year-old boy who saw the other films a long time ago and can't remember them very well.
Terminator Genisys is a singularly wretched film which makes so little sense and has so little respect for its own characters that I'm almost willing to try to reappraise it as some sort of satirical, experimental art piece.
Almost.
