Review of Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003) by Tim H — 05 Apr 2015
Rise of The Machines is an appropriate title. That's what the movie is, a cold and lifeless machine that looks pretty badass even though it doesn't do anything. Watch T2 with the mute button on and you have T3.
There are good things about the movie, but all the praise I can give it is for scenes lifted directly from part 2 that just makes me wish I was watching that movie instead. And there's too much CGI.
T-1000 was CGI, but he was also liquid metal so it looked right. T3 is your typical polished and sexy big budget blockbuster. It's hard to appreciate the movie because it acts like a parody of Terminator 2 while at the same time it tries to be serious.
Very unbalanced. But I will say when it comes to mindless entertainment this movie held my attention all the way through. A feat most CGI action movies are incapable of doing. And the movie is fun. My biggest complaint is that it didn't he try to be original.
If this is the first Terminator movie you see you'll probably like it more.
