Review of Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003) by Julian T — 13 Dec 2011
While this is still an above average action movie, it is clearly and far away the worst of the 'Terminator' films.
The plot is tired, the acting is a shade above awful, the villain lacks real menace, and Schwarzenegger's character is warped into a weird comic relief role which I think was totally uncalled for. Some great action scenes (the car chase with the crane was brilliant) but an all around disappointment considering the heights of T2.
Of course, the first two films are extremely hard to live up to. Part of the problem is that Linda Hamilton is sorely missed. The best part of this installment is the last 5 minutes, when we see the stage set for the war which we've been waiting for for 25 years.
