Review of Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003) by Chinmai R — 29 Nov 2013
Heed the advice that I stupidly shrugged off and skip this. Though it can be entertaining, Rise of the Machines isn't remotely similar to the first two installments. Nick Stahl is a boring, pouty John Connor who I'm not sure fires a single bullet the entire movie.
The villian is lackluster and lacks the menace that Robert Patrick had as the T-1000. Claire Danes' role is insignificant, and Schwarzenegger delivers one-liners so contrived they're ridiculous.
T3 also contradicts many ideas and facts as established by the previous films, which make it all the more annoying. It barely succeeds only because of the mythology created by The Terminator and T2, and because of the familiar chase plot.
