Review of Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003) by President P — 14 Apr 2013
Why, why was this made. Judgment Day tied all the lose ends together, they stopped judgment day, and the film just decides, "FUCK THAT", what a selfish decision from WB. Aside from that, Schwarzenegger is still great as the Terminator and the rest of the cast isn't bad and the action is real good.
Regardless, the film shouldn't exist, and that's the problem it doesn't try to get the audience to accept it and give a reason why it fits in to its predecessors. Terminator 3 is basically a cash grab for the studio at the expense of great series with a perfect story arc.
I'll give the film credit it isn't to bad to watch, but again it's not like the previous two and never really as any sense of emotion like the first two. Where in the previous films there was a huge sense of urgency when it came to the possibility of failure resulting in the fall of humanity; here from the very beginning you know because of how it ignores the clear explanation for the end of the possibility of Armageddon ever happening set by T2, and is just going to allow all hell to break lose so they could get another sequel out as soon as possible.
T3 from an action stand point isn't to bad, but if you loved the first two this will actually anger you in a way and teach you that no franchise is safe if a bunch of executives can make money. It's a sad reminder of the Hollywood system.
