Review of Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991) by Daniel V — 28 Sep 2014

A sequel that is equal if not better than it's predecessor. The better part is open for debate but there is no denying that Terminator 2: Judgement Day is a worthy successor to one of Sci Fi's greatest films.

T3 and T4 are not horrible movies but compared to the T1 and T2 they are absolute garbage, in the same way that Godfather III is a decent flick but does not deserve the name Godfather. Arnold became a star as a bad guy and now he returns to that role but this time he is programmed to be the hero.

The action and spectacle is top notch and the new baddie T-1000, played by Robert Patrick, is very scary. A shapeshifter who can take down Arnold's T-800 model with relative ease. As I said in my review if the first one, the best performance in that flick was Linda Hamilton.

Going from the happy go-lucky early 20 something to the tough as nails mother of the Savior of the human race was pure genius. She picks up 12 years later(Terminator timeline is the only thing that doesn't make sense) I am saying 12 years because that's how old Edward Furlong's John Connor looks, 12 years later Sarah is a mental patient and her son is with a foster family.

She knows the end is coming and this doesn't drive her insane, it drives her to be more determined but it also calls for her to wait for her moment by playing along. As soon as she sees the T-800's chiseled face, she knows her son is in danger and she springs into action.

Cameron has always been a fan of strong women and Sarah Connor is his strongest. The Terminator really is her story, at least thru the first two. Other than the timeline issues, this a well thought and written script and as cool as Arnold is a bad guy, I'd rather root for him than against him.
