Review of Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991) by Varun C — 06 Jul 2014
Character development was the main focus in this blockbuster.
Sarah Conner, who was a simple waitress at the start of the first movie, is now stuck in a mental hospital, separated from his son and in fear of an apocalypse that she knows is inevitable. Full credit goes to Linda for her outstanding performance throughout for showing the scars left by the happenings of the previous movie.
The Terminator, all of a sudden, isn't a terminator, but a protector. For a cyborg, you'd think he wouldn't develop like the human characters. Aha, you are wrong. Last time, he was a killing machine.
This time, he's a killer, a protector, a cyborg, a father-figure.
This puts the climax into perspective. This, I feel, is truly one of the most memorable final acts in movie history, because it's not everyday that an emotionally incapable robot can jerk rivers out of your tear ducts after an intense battle.
"I know now why you cry. But I can't.".
