Review of Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991) by Isaac B — 02 Dec 2015
The Terminator: Human vs. Terminator.
Terminator 2: Terminator vs. more advanced Terminator.
Could you want anything else? This is debatably a perfect sequel. The direction of where the characters have gone is very well thought out. Sarah Connor is now one of the most badass chicks to ever be on screen. Her arc is so fascinating. I love the idea of taking the unbeatable evil machine from the first film and having it protect them in this one. The action takes several steps up into the right place while each scene is intensified by either the subtle score or the incredible camera shots. Arnold Schwarzenegger is an even bigger badass in this one. He becomes more of a superhero than before. I don't think the new T1000 is as scary as the terminator from the first film however he is still frightening in other ways. It is very sad to think the franchise derailed from here because these first two films are a self contained story on their own and did not need useless sequels to present the most captivating story across. This one is more fun to watch and enjoy than the first while still being sadder and manages to stretch upon that horrific view of the future. The subtle ways Cameron pushes the underlying story across is highly needed because without it there would still be pieces missing. It is also an interesting turn where Arnold's Terminator becomes the real main character. While watching T2 it becomes evident that he is the reason to watch even more so than Linda Hamilton's prominent female lead. Either way, watch this film, it's a must.
