Review of Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991) by Christofer G — 30 Jun 2015
James Cameron can go to his grave knowing that he made two of the best movie sequels of all time. The other being Aliens which I covered a long time ago. If you were either born or lived during the nineties, then chances are that you must seen this by now with its amazing story, to the kickass action scenes, and even the characters that were absolutely stellar with their performances. So the premise for this one is that Skynet sends back a T-1000, played by Robert Patrick, a higher model brand of Terminator to kill 10-year-old John Conner in 1995. Despite that fact that this kid looks way older than that, but whatever. However John Conner himself sends back his own Terminator to protect his younger self and survive. Thus begins a new 2 and a half hour of badassness from beginning to end. Let's get this review underway, shall we?
As I said earlier, the actors who play these characters in here are absolutely fantastic, spot-on with their roles, and never feel wasted for one second. My personal favorites in this film are Robert Patrick as the T-1000 and as Linda Hamilton Sarah Conner. The T-1000's appearance may look deceiving at first, being less muscular and smaller than the Terminator, but is way more powerful with his liquid metal abilities by taking various forms and shapes to using a wide variety of tools and stabbing weapons to take out his targets. The CG work in here is great as well, especially for early nineties standards. It is a fine example of computer graphics that is used the right way. Linda Hamilton reprises her role as Sarah Conner who comes a long way from being the defenseless waitress in the first film to this soldier of fortune paranoid badass who would break you in half if you were to cross her. All the characters in this movie start somewhere and end somewhere else personality wise. For example, John Conner starts off as this wise-ass little bastard and ends up being this sweet sentimental kid after bonding with the Terminator. Overall, this movie goes beyond my five star rating for various reasons. In fact, I put this film in my Top 15 Greatest Movies of all time.
