Review of Term Life (2016) by Verfoleme — 02 Oct 2016
An unassuming and kind man who is a professional thief teaches his coarse and spiteful young daughter how to face the world in this "thriller" filled with charm and good spirit. Except for the thievery everything else is out of place for a film in this genre, which may be one reason for the disdain so many reviewers shower on it.
Trust me. Vince Vaughn gives a performance of an unexpectedly high quality, nervous but assured at his craft but very unassured about his role as father. The business about the insurance policy is overstated in the official description.
Expect to be surprised at mature good humor and a sense that despite everything there's good spirit throughout it.
