Review of Tender Mercies (1983) by Conor M — 19 Jul 2009
Watched on instant view. Alcoholic drifter Mac Sledge (Robert Duvall) gets a job working for a woman in a small store in the plains of Texas and they get married. She finds out he was once a popular country singer and his past problems and all are things they come to deal with again.
Sorta slow, over simple plot and the stereotype country lifestyle is a turn off in this one. I did like the small town life portrayed and realism of country life without showing everyone being ignorant or drunks.
OK movie because of Duvall, take him out and this movie is a turn off.
