Review of Tender Mercies (1983) by Jennifer B — 21 Feb 2010
Four Stars (Don't miss it): Wonderful, moving film about a down-and-out country singer who finds comfort in a relationship with a widow and her son. Duvall is simply magnificent in Oscar-winning role, but whole cast (thankfully) understands that less is sometimes more.
Marred only by a narrative that director Beresford lets wander a bit too much.
