Review of Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny (2006) by Annie C — 09 Jul 2014
As some one who's been a fan of the D since the old HBO episodes this movie rocks. It gives you a little bit of a start of the comedic, musical duo with a star studded cast that includes two rock legends (Dio and Meatloaf) as well as Ben Stiller who is a comedy genius.
The movie is set up so it's a fantasy that parodys every little boy's fantasy of running away to be a rocker, finding a mentor, and making it bit. It also has a real depth of emotion to it with the depth of the friendship between JB and Kage.
It's not a serious movie, and it's not supposed to be. It's fun, and if you like rock music, car chases, and a good old fashion show down with Mr. Evil himself, this movie is a great watch. You'll be singing along by the second time you watch it, because you have to see it more than once... there is just so much in the movie you'll miss it!
