Review of Temple Grandin (2010) by Jacob F — 22 Jun 2011
One of the absolute best of 2010 in my opinion. It is an inspirational, colorful and captivating biopic of an autistic woman who overcame various obstacles and made a big difference. The tagline for the movie is "Autism gave her a vision.
She gave it a voice." That is the perfect tagline for the film. That is because Temple Grandin successfully conquered the hardships because of her Autism and achieved her vision. The story techniques in the picture are unique and fascinating such as the mathematics and measurements seen in Temple's psyche.
This portrays the visual mind of individuals diagnosed with Autism. The brightest spot in the movie is the amazing performance from Claire Danes as Temple Grandin. She doesn't merely play the part but practically makes a transformation.
Danes brilliantly plays Temple showing her troubles and strengths, and is wholly believable. Julia Ormand, Catherine O'Hara, and David Strathairn are all fantastic as the loving and supportive people in Temple's life.
Overall, Temple Grandin is my pick for the best television movie of 2010 for the uplifting true story at its heart and Danes's mesmerizing performance.
