Review of Telstar: The Joe Meek Story (2008) by Roy E — 20 Oct 2009
A brilliant film that showed it how it was. We saw the film when Nick Moran gave a Q & A session afterwards and to learn how much effort had gone in to making the film as true life as possible was good.
With so many of Joe Meek's original artists making "cameo" performances it kept it as accurate as one could hope. My only disappointment is "VUE" elected to show this film at selected cinemas only so did not get the credit it truly deserved.
This film is a must for anyone interested in the 60s music scene. The film was made just down the road from Joe Meeks "Blue Plaqued" address, shame they couldn't use the actual building.
I really couldn't fault this film, the music was good, the scenery was accurate, and the story was as true as it could be. 100% may seem a bit high to some but I really couldn't fault it. Nick Moran put so much effort in to this film I just hope it one day gets the rewards it deserves.
