Review of Tekken (2010) by Lindsay Elizabeth M — 13 Nov 2010
This probably should have been as much fun as a prolapse, but strangely Tekken is actually rather entertaining, if a touch mindless. Bearing in mind the stories of the videogame series are written down on the back of a cigarette packet the movie does a decent enough job of translating the OTT action to the big screen. The characters look the part, and the fight scenes are well choreographed, and suitably brutal. The storyline however is a touch weak, and a bit too forgetable.
If you enjoyed the nonsense that was the Dead or Alive movie you will feel right at home here, just don't go expecting the next Schindlers List. Considering the majority of videogame adaptations are terrible, Tekken does go a little way to buck the trend. Heres hoping more follow suit.
