Review of Tekken (2010) by Dan T — 25 Aug 2011
To my surprise, Tekken is actually good. Te main thing I look for right away in game movies, are the characters and they were really well represented. Outside of a few characters: Marshal Law, and Christie M (who doesn't use Eddies style like she does in the game) the rest looked and fought just like the game.
The story is a mirror of the Tekken games.
What I've been waiting for is a movie based off a fighting game, that focuses on a fighting tournament. This one does it fairly well. It follows Jin, who is played really well, and has lots of decent fight scenes with loads of violence and cool moves. The fight choreographer is Cyril R(the bald guy from district b13 and b13U).
The budget actually seemed pretty high, with it's awesome costumes and cool style of it's world.
Unfortunately It has an unneeded love interest, and some choppy editing. Some may also feel that some of their favorite characters from the game lose way to fast.
Overall it was a fun movie for all the Tekken fans out there. If you go in with an open mind and ready to have fun, you will have it.
