Review of Teeth (2000) by Dooeol L — 25 Nov 2009
This is one of the most original concepts for a movie I have ever witnessed. That being said, I really only half enjoyed it. Perhaps I was expecting more gore (the gore that is shown is quite... disturbing, to say the least) and more humor, though there are some pretty funny moments. More could have been done with it, though, and I saw a lot of wasted opportunities and potential.
I have to say that I resented the notion this movie seems to perpetuate: that all men are really rapists at heart. None of the male characters are fleshed out or given any real personality beyond their penchant for being sleazebags. If the writer had added at least one male character with a personality it would have made the movie more credible to me, instead of just seeming to be anti-male (and yes, I am aware that this movie was written by a man).
