Better than the previous movie, Out of the Shadows plays on the 80's cartoon nostalgia introducing the likes of Krang, Beebop and Rocksteady, and Casey Jones and even Baxster Stockman among other vehicle and gadget related references.

Shredder and Karai are still shallow characters with little contribution to the movie. Megan Fox's acting is still weak albeit an improvement over the previous outing. The reminder of the turtles' origins by April, stating that she named them, is still cringeworthy. Casey Jones was not used to his full potential "sporting" his trademark characteristic only briefly while being relegated to a generic support role for the rest of the film.

Overall the movie was a fast paced, action packed, barrel of laughs and entertainment. Far from being an excellent film it was certainly fun to watch. Although as a fan of the 80's cartoon it bothered me that they were so close to accurately copying many aspects of the show without fully realizing them. And it still hurts to look at the not so pretty appearance of the turtles, but at least they played off of that in the story.
