Review of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (2016) by Ivan D — 22 Apr 2017
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows was a better movie than what came before it. This had better action, better comedy, better story (kinda), and a better feel of a Ninja Turtles movie.
The Turtles were better being the main characters mostly because they were more focused. They fight, they talk, they interact, and they show the conflict between them (even though it was kinda pointless) whenever the movie turns, they are showing a brotherly relationship. April O' Neil was a bit better she was more of useful sidekick than rather the focus of the whole movie. But the one thing I kinda liked the most of this movie was the references. I'd only seen a few, but i'm pretty sure their were more I didn't see in the background. The action was a fast-paced CGI fest, but yet it kinda enjoyable to watch.
They're were good things in this movie, but alas, this was a Michael Bay production. So there was some bad things that really stick out in this movie. One of which, being the bad acting. Megan Fox did better, way better than the other actors and actresses in this movie. Stephen Amell was kinda bad. I haven't seen Arrow yet, but I have seen him on The Flash and he did a better performance than this. He showed more aggressive, yet kind of nice attitude in that episode. But in this movie, he sounded like a kiddish man. I also don't like how the Shredder was being used in this. I mean, they approved his costume without hundreds of knives coming out of him, which was a great improvement, but he wasn't even used as the villain anymore at the end. I was actually kinda excited for what this Shredder would do. But, he was pretty much thrown to the side, I was disappointed.
In conclusion, this was a decent movie. The characters showed their personalities right, the action was fun, and even though some of the acting was bad, some scenes made up for it. This movie felt like how the Ninja Turtles are. This shows a very good way to entertain the new generation of kids who like what started in 1984. COWABUNGA.
