Review of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (2016) by Imthenoob — 07 Sep 2016
I really enjoyed the first film and was really disappointed with this one. They introduced far too much and that left little to no screen time for anyone outside of the Turtles, April and Casey. Casting Tyler Perry was a huge mistake as he, along with the story, are the weakest parts of the film. Re-introducing Shredder into the mix was pointless because he play no real part in the story. They should have just gave a one off mention that he is still in a secure prison and left it at that and then find another way to introduce Krang. Stephen Amell as Casey Jones was a huge miscast imo. Really just an attempt to bring hype into the role. He did not perform well at all.
There were parts I enjoyed. The turtles were cool and the best part of the film. I really liked the introduction of Bebop and Rocksteady but I don't think they were used properly and really should have been the main secondary antagonist next to Krang.
Overall though, It wasn't even remotely as good as the first film. It wasn't funny. It was just boring and confusing.
