Review of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (2016) by Steven J — 06 Jun 2016
Watching this was to me far more entertaining then the start of the reboot. It was almost a ride through childhood/teen years. Saturday morning cartoons, teenage mutant ninja turtles. Here are the issues.
... Megan Fox though a joy to watch, is tougher April Oneil and I realize the goal for strong female characters...but the balance of story suffers when April is too tough. Will Arnett, I do enjoy his work but his Vernon again isn't cowardly enough to maintain the story balance.
Stephen Amell, full disclosure I am a huge fan of his. This said I felt the story and writing really took much of the tough guy flare and Raph/Casey banter away. In the end Stephen comes across as the guy happy to be in a big budget movie.
So story basics good, script fell a little flat, direction needs work. Sheamus and Gary Anthony did spot on portrayals, this was done right. Krang and Shredder both they did great. In the end I'll be interested to see where a 3rd one goes.
