Review of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014) by Johnny J — 27 Jan 2015
I watched this movie with expectations at an absolute zero, and I was pleasantly surprised. Make no mistake, TMNT is another garbage bag from the Michael Bay factory, but it does have some redeeming factors.
Some of the lines are pretty funny, Mikey is fairly endearing (in keeping with the way his character has been portrayed historically), and the action scenes are completely mindless but at the same time engaging.
A couple of points really bothered me though: 1. The origin of the turtles (April a central character in it? Splinter learning Ninjutsu by reading a book?), and 2. Shredder's look (Optimus Prime on steroids and with a knife-set).
Overall, I would definitely not recommend this to anyone, unless they want some mindless fun.
