Review of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014) by Ilja S — 01 Jun 2016
TMNT is a decent live-action adaptation of the classic animated series and the comic books the series is based on. Somehow the movie ended uo feeling more like 'April O'Neil - The Movie', but I gotta admit, Megan Fox's acting in this is way better than in Transformers, wich utimately isn't saying much.
Will Arnett is sometimes very welcome, sometimes just over the top and annoying. It's basically what you would expect from a Michael Bay movie. The story really doesn't know where it's heading, and there is too much contrast between scenes which get really dark, and scenes with stupid fart-jokes.
The most awful thing about this movie remain the painfully obvious reshoots, and the non-used first plot that would have worked way better, wicht William Fichtner as Shredder. Overall, the on a secod viewing the movie gets more enjoyable, but that doesnt make it a compelling piece of film.
