Review of Teen Wolf Too (1987) by Matt H — 24 Apr 2008
The only surprise on offer here is that it took as long as two years to bash out a cash-in sequel that copies from the original as lazily as this one. 'Teen Wolf' is an underrated corker and it causes me physical pain to watch this leaden hack job rehash that film's entire plot -Â?Â? and I mean the ENTIRE plot -Â?Â? with a slavish desperation that stops just short of editing in footage from its template movie.
The original has charm, engaging characters, an excellent soundtrack, Michael J. Fox, and it's very, very funny. This sequel has none of that, plus a lot of other things it should have but doesn't.
Jason Bateman is saddled with make-up that makes him look like Cornelius from 'Planet of the Apes' has had a nasty run-in with a belt sander, while the recasting of two major characters from the first film (Finstock and Stiles) is just rubbing salt in the wound.
The only thing to be said in its favour is that it's better than the appalling cartoon series. But so what?
