Review of Teen Wolf Too (1987) by Anna H — 02 Jun 2008
Teen Wolf is back, except this time the curse has fallen upon Michael J. Fox's cousin, played by a young Jason Bateman. There is no point explaining the plot, because if you have seen the first film, then you have seen this one.
That's right, everything is this film is exactly what you saw in the first. At first Bateman is afraid of the curse, but then he embraces it and becomes the popular kid in school, and joins the boxing team.
While doing this he loses his friends and the girl he likes, only to learn of his mistakes and stop being the wolf in the final match. Change the basketball match to a boxing match, and shift around a few faces (Though not all of them, as the friends from the first film are back, playing the exact same "I feel ignored now" friends) and you have a complete and unnecessary rehash of the first film.
On top of it all though, this film decided to throw away all the laughs and charm of the first film, and instead added a bad after school special feel to it. In the end what you have is a horribly boring deja vu experience that you will be counting down the clock for its finale.
I'm going to give it one star just because it at least had the cliche 80's musical montage in the middle of it, but even that wasn't done very well. Bateman, what were you thinking? Oh yeah.
.. $!
