People said it was good. I trusted em, but I didn’t know it was this good. As a fan of the tv show I loved this thing. It’s not amazing, (there is an actually amazing scene imo) but it is such a fantastic transition from the tv show to a movie.

It feels like the tv show but highlights every single good thing about it times 2. I laughed more times than I could count. The animation was (while not by an incredible degree) an improvement over the tv show, and they used different styles a few times and those were always pleasant to see, the action is a drastic improvement, the music (there are multiple original songs) are probably the best of any the show has done, the characters are so damn lovable and (this is sort of a spoiler) I’m really glad they focused on Robin.

In my opinion he is one of the actual best characters of any show I’ve seen. I might be talking about the show a bit too much, because this is technically its own thing, but as a person walking in blind I think it’s almost as enjoyable.

However, understanding literally every reference makes it so fun, and for the most part they aren’t just showing you a thing you might know they’re adding a joke to it that hits very well more than not.

The fact that they don’t show you that much of the other Titans’ characters might also be a detriment to other people’s enjoyment, but having spent so much time with the show it didn’t feel necessary at all.

I wasn’t bothered by it because the way I know them shines through. I should also say there are some cameos from certain actors/voice actors that are just great, and the performances from the main cast is terrific as always.

The thing I disliked is not a critique of the film overall, but there’s a segment of about 20-30 minutes that holds it back from being great. There’s a sequence that for sure matters to the plot, but they could’ve cut it down a bit because it just wasn’t all that funny or entertaining (on top of that I should mention there are some pretty meh gags they harp on a bit too long, but it really is not that bad at all.

I can think of two moments like this). Not that I disliked it, it just wasn’t of the same quality as the rest. That first 45 minutes (give or take) and last 15 are really good though. I always get a bit worried about the endings to movies, wondering if they’ll pull it off, but they absolutely did here.

In fact, the whole story is pretty good. There was one moment I found out about before watching, and it turned out to be kind of emotional. Not to the point I came close to crying or anything, but there are a few scenes like this, that are really cute and even semi-dramatic.

But overall I really enjoyed it it’s a super fun time.
